The General Coordinator of “COP27” for Green Projects: 18 smart Egyptian projects were presented during the climate summit

The winner projects will be showcased during the activities of “COP27,” according to Ambassador Hisham Badr, the general coordinator of the Climate Conference for Smart Green Enterprises, who confirmed that Egypt is the first nation in the world to launch this kind of initiative.

He emphasised that the winners of the “Green Enterprises” initiative, who offered Egyptian solutions to climate problems, are present during the climate conference activities to present and review their projects and to obtain opportunities for financing and opportunities to launch these projects around the world. He made this point in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM.”

He clarified that the national initiative for green projects was launched under the direction of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and following a decision by Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, noting that the goal of the initiative is to address how the average Egyptian citizen can benefit from “Cop27” anywhere in Egypt.

The initiative enables anyone to submit a project to the provincial committee, the national level, the international level, and any of the six categories of projects (emerging, small, medium, large, and women’s projects). 6281 projects were submitted and after the first qualifiers the total winning projects reached 162 projects and they were liquidated to 18 A project in 6 categories chosen at a national conference to represent Egypt during “COP2”.

He explained that the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects seeks to localise local development by allowing localities and all businesses, the private sector, and civil society organisations in Egypt to submit any project that supports sustainable development and the environment. He defined a smart green project as one that supports the environment by using less energy and using a less-expensive form of technology.

He emphasised that the United Nations and international financial institutions are partners in this initiative and expressed his desire to set an example for other nations, noting that many African nations had enquired about these projects in order to transfer and benefit from them.
