Sencing Hearing Begins in Winnipeg for Man Convicted in Death of Missing Cleaner

A man from Winnipeg who was found guilty of manslaughter in the death of a cleaner whose body has never been found is currently awaiting sentencing.
Kyle Pietz was found guilty by a jury in Eduardo Balaquit’s alleged death in the spring.
Balaquito was last seen leaving his house to go to work as a night cleaner on January 4, 2018.
The Crown argued that during the robbery at their shared workplace before providing his body in a rural area outside of the city, Pietz killed Balance.

While Reading Victim Impact Statements, One of Balaquit’s Sons Asked Pietz to Give the Family Sub Closure and Disclose Where His Father’s Body Is Located.
The Crown is requesting an 18-year sentence.
