Mattea Roach ousted in semifinals from Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions

Mattea Roach, a Canadian Jeopardy! contestant, was defeated on Friday night in the semifinal round of the Tournament of Champions.
Roach, a native of Nova Scotia who now calls Toronto home and who holds the fifth-longest winning streak in the history of the game show, competed against Minneapolis meteorologist Eric Ahasic and San Francisco software developer Andrew He.
Only three players—including Roach—were given automatic advancement to the semifinals.

Ahasic took the lead in the Jeopardy! round early in the episode on Friday and maintained it until the start of Double Jeopardy!
Ahasic was defeated by He in the second round when He gambled everything he had twice on double Jeopardy! questions and shot out to an enormous lead.
Roach, who earlier this year rose to trivia prominence after she won 23 consecutive games and a total of US$560,983, finished third in the semifinals.

With US$37,863, Ahasic had US$16,783, while Roach had US$7,200 at the end.
Roach discussed how often she has been recognised in Canada since appearing on the show during the episode.
As I was travelling at 110 kilometres per hour, I was recognised on the highway, she claimed.
He will take on superchampions Amy Schneider and Matt Amodio in the tournament finals, which are a best-of-seven series, which start on Monday.
The winner is the first player to score three victories.

The second and fourth longest streaks, respectively, belong to Schneider and Amodio.
Roach, one of the youngest Jeopardy! super-champions ever, defeated Schneider and Amodio in a special exhibition game earlier this week.
A $250,000 grand prize goes to the Tournament of Champions champion.
