Trump says he’ll make ‘very big announcement’ next week

Donald Trump, a former US president, says he will make a “very major statement” the next week amid rumours that he will declare his candidacy for president in 2024.
Before tomorrow’s US midterm elections, Trump made the comments during a rally for a Republican congressional candidate.
“I’m going to be making a very big announcement on Tuesday, November 15 (local time) at Mar-a-Lago,” Trump said before a cheering crowd in Ohio.
“We don’t want anything to diminish the significance of tomorrow.

Trump has been more open about his intentions to run for president a third time, saying recently that he would “very, very, very definitely” do so and that he would be announcing them “very, very soon.”

Republican officials and some individuals close to Trump had urged him to hold off on launching his campaign until after the midterms were over, in part to prevent the election from turning into a referendum on him and to absolve him of any potential blame should Republicans not perform as well as the party hopes.

But despite his aides exploring potential locations and times for a formal announcement in the coming days, Trump has been eager to move forward and has hinted in private for weeks that he would make his plans known at one of his rallies in the last stretch.
He promised the crowd at a rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend that “you’re going to be so pleased in the very next very, very, very short amount of time, OK?”
“You’ll be shocked by how quickly.

But first, on November 8, we need to achieve a historic victory for Republicans,” he continued.
The third week of November was deemed by Trump to be the “perfect” time to begin his campaign, according to reports from ABC News and CNN last week.
The Associated Press contributed further reporting.

Next week, according to Trump, he’ll make a “very major statement.”
