The Louvre Museum launches a donation campaign to collect an amount that allows the purchase of a famous cigarette box

On Tuesday, the Louvre Museum launches its 13th annual donation campaign as part of its “Tos Missen” initiative, so that it can buy a valuable cigarette box owned by French politician Eitan de Shawasiol, one of the most prominent ministers during the rule of Louis XV.
The French Museum wants to raise at least €1.2 million in order to purchase this golden box, which was embellished with crystal pieces in the eighteenth century.

The museum has previously obtained an amount of 500 thousand euros from the “Friends of the Louvre Association”, while it continues to seek additional amounts by prominent French and foreign companies and donors, with the aim of raising the necessary funds represented by 3. 9 million euros.
One of the objects created by Jovani Ambrodjio Maysironi (1551-1616) was added to the national groupings in 2021 as a result of donations from 5600 entities totaling one million euros.

According to the museum, 30,000 donors—including 12,000 who contributed more than once—have contributed to the “Tos Missen” campaigns since they were launched in 2010.
The 2017 campaign was an exceptional success for the collection of 1. 5 million euros from 8,500 donors, allowing the museum to purchase a calendar book for King Francois I..

To raise funds for the purchase of a legendary cigarette box, the Louvre Museum conducts a contribution drive.
