Saudi Crown Prince: We seek to renew the renewable energy of 50% of our consumption in 2030

The Crown Prince and Saudi Prime Minister, Prince Muhammad bin Salman, stated that the Kingdom seeks to develop more sustainable energy systems.
On the fringes of the COP 27 conference, he added the second Green Middle East initiative summit in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh in 2022, stating that we should aim for renewable energy to account for 50% of our consumption by then.

He stated that 2050 is the target year for the Kingdom to achieve zero neutrality.
He continued: “We hope that the summit will achieve extracts that establish a bright future.

“Today, Monday, the second iteration of the summit of the Green Middle East initiative 2022 in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh, on the fringes of the COP 27 conference, started in partnership with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In order to strengthen the regional climate duties that were established in the inaugural edition of the summit in 2021, the Green Middle East initiative will host a summit in 2022 that will bring together decision-makers and government leaders from the Middle East area and worldwide.

In conjunction with the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, Prince Muhammad bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Supreme Committee, declared the second iteration of the “Green Middle East Initiative Summit” and the “Saudi Green Initiative Forum” to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt on November 7 and 11, respectively (COP27).

The second iteration of the Green Middle East initiative is held to highlight the most significant climate challenges facing the region and its dimensions globally, through a strategic platform that enhances joint cooperation, exchange of experiences, and idea-sharing between the heads of state and the concerned ministers of government and policy makers. This builds on the success of the first summit of the Green Middle East initiative, which was hosted by Riyadh last year.
