The Arab Republic of Egypt served as the host country for the Climate Conference “COP 27,” which kicked off in Sharm El-Sheikh, the city of peace, with the participation of representatives from more than 200 nations despite warnings against inaction on tackling global warming.
The UAE, represented by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, announced the adoption of the climate neutrality decision for the national aviation sector in the nation as part of realising the conference’s objectives to move from the statements to the implementation. This makes the UAE the first airline sector in the region to adopt its decision to adhere to the trend, as well as the first sector at the state level to achieve an integrated commitment to it.

These initiatives are nothing new for the UAE, according to the UAE President.

The President of the UAE emphasised that efforts are being combined to implement this strategy and noted that efforts to diversify the UAE’s economy and strengthen its renewable and clean cultures in order to promote sustainable economic and social progress began decades ago.

The UAE is the first nation in the area to declare its commitment to climate neutrality.
The president of the UAE, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, noted that his nation was among the first in the area to establish a strategic initiative to attain carbon neutrality by 2050.
He mentioned the beginning of the collaboration with the US to invest $100 billion and the creation of 100 gigawatts of clean energy worldwide.

The Climate Deception Team for the Emirati Aviation Sector then made the decision to create a comprehensive strategy and action plan to begin putting the decision into practise and establish all of its priorities.

Additionally, a new phase in the work programme for hosting the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will begin in collaboration with the state team.
