Ukraine reveals the truth of planning to evacuate the population from the capital

Today, Sunday, the Ukrainian government refuted the veracity of news reports that an emergency evacuation of the city’s roughly three million citizens, known as Kyiv, was being planned. They emphasised that the situation in the capital is “under control.”

Roman Takshuk, Director of Security in the Kyiv Municipal Council, was quoted by the Al-Arabiya channel as saying this evening that the authorities are doing everything they can to lessen the impact of Russian strikes on crucial infrastructure facilities.

He stressed that officials in the capital are being told that they are likely to receive a notice at least 12 hours ago that the network is about to collapse. He added that if things reach this point, he will start Officials to inform people and ask them to leave. If Russia continues to target infrastructure, the city will lose its entire electricity system.

He continued, “At least for now, the situation can be controlled since there are no signs that significant numbers of civilians are fleeing Kyiv,” but warned that if the city’s services are interrupted, this will swiftly change.
The Ukrainian security official also cautioned that there won’t be any water or sanitization without electricity, stressing that the federal government and local governments are now taking all reasonable precautions to safeguard our energy supply system.

The New York Times had earlier in the day reported, citing officials in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, that the city’s authorities had started preparing to evacuate its citizens in the event that the city’s electricity supply was completely cut off due to damage to the electricity network caused by Russian missile strikes.
