The South Korean President undertakes to hold accountable those responsible for the ITwan accident

Yoon Sok Yol, the president of South Korea, apologised for the stampede disaster in the Itoan area on Monday. He also promised to punish authorities and asked for a broad reform of the police sector, which he accused of having an inappropriate response.
According to the South Korean Yonhap News Agency, Yoon made his statement at a meeting to assess the safety regulations and crowd control methods in the wake of the disaster that took 156 lives on October 29.

“We must conduct an institutional evaluation of the authority and responsibility surrounding the safety management, as well as the rapid reporting system, in order to deal effectively with the numerous threats in our society.

I will make sure that determining the truth accurately regarding this tragedy, and disclosing this process to citizens in a transparent manner that does not doubt.

” Yun has not referred to how he would reach the truth, but the police are conducting an internal investigation into determining the error that occurred while dealing with this disaster.
The president declared, “In light of the results, I will demand determination to hold the officials accountable.”
