After around a century, the Breastians Museum in The Hague, Netherlands, revealed that the strange oil painting belonged to Rambrant once again.
The Praids Museum in The Hague, which has owned the piece for more than a century, initially thought that the drawing was created by a devotee of Rambrante. The experts gave it to the Dutch artist personally, according to The Guardian newspaper.
Abraham Praids, the original museum’s secretary, brought the Raising of the Cross to the institution in the 1960s. Praids was confident that the image was real for Rambrant, but for years the painting was ignored as a copy by experts who indicated the lack of work to accuracy.
Gerawin Gyloen Gylateg, the head secretary of the ancient brush, said of the painting, “I looked at this work again and again, and in the amazing brush strokes, only a few wide brush strokes, and this made him confident that the image was from the famous Dutch masterpiece.
It is important to note that although experts may have previously regarded the work as being raw, fresh research reveals that the drawing has many alterations that the artist made while creating it, indicating that its composition was a creative process. This indicates that the painter was altering his viewpoint as he worked. He wasn’t imitating another artwork, that much is clear.
