The Italian capital’s Lazio Derby, which defeated Roma 1–0 today, Sunday, in the 13th round of the Italian League, decided in favour of Rome.
The only goal of the game was scored by Felipe Anderson for Lazio in the 28th minute.
Roma’s score remained at 25 points in fifth place while Lazio increased his to 27 points in third.
After receiving a pass from his teammate Madi Camara and sending it weakly into goalkeeper Providil’s hands in the third minute, English striker Tami Abraham nearly opened the scoring for Lazio.
Rome exerted considerable pressure during the opening 10 minutes of the first half, but they were unsuccessful in their attempts to repeatedly threaten the Lazio goalkeeper’s goal.
After that, Lazio attempted to attack Roy Patricio, the goalkeeper, but to no avail.
In the 28th minute, Lazio succeeded in scoring the goal of the progress by Felipe Anderson, where his teammate Pedro succeeded in cutting the ball from the Brazilian Roger Eibanz, Roma defender inside the penalty area, to reach the ball to Felipe, who put the ball in the net directly.
When he struck a ball that struck the crossbar in the 32nd minute, Nicolo Zaniolo wasted Roma’s chance to square the score by scoring the equaliser.
The referee blew his whistle to signal the conclusion of the first half after the remaining minutes saw no further scoring by Lazio. Roma attempted to pressure Lazio to score the equaliser at the opening of the second half, but Lazio played a rigorous defensive game to advance.
In the 68th minute, after striking a ball in goalie Providel’s body close to the goal, Zaniolo had a chance to tie the score.
Roma’s attempts against Brucedel persisted in vain, as neither Abraham nor Zaniolo were able to open the Lazio door. Instead, Lazio was able to keep their lead in the score until the referee blew the final whistle, giving them a 1/0 victory.
