He refused to comment on communicating with Washington … the Kremlin “open”

The Kremlin stated that his country is always ready to dialogue but declined to comment on the claims that surfaced in recent hours about Russia’s communication with the United States to defuse the escalation in Ukraine.
The Kremlin is still “open” to discussions with the Ukrainian side, according to Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, who talked to reporters today, Monday.
Additionally, he added: “Speculation is more; we do not know whether or not the reports are authentic communication, but some of them are.

Although Kyiv said she was unwilling to talk, she was criticised for being intransigent, according to Reuters.
These statements came after US officials revealed that National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan has been involved in recent months in secret talks with prominent assistants of Russian President Vladimir in an attempt to reduce the risk of a wider conflict, according to the Wall Street Journal yesterday.

However, they also made it apparent that the negotiations’ primary goal was to prevent uncontrollable escalation risks, not to seek a resolution.
They further emphasised that the purpose of this covert message is to warn Moscow away from the use of nuclear or other WMDs.
It is noteworthy that the Russian -Ukrainian negotiations were stopped since last March after several rounds that only led to a modest exchange of prisoners.

Any hope of returning to the negotiating table would then be destroyed by the escalating violence on all Ukrainian fronts as well as the mounting animosity between Moscow and the West.

He declined to comment on the Kremlin’s “open” communication with Washington.
