Edmonton family of 8 displaced by house fire

A family with six children had to leave their home due to a house fire this past week in southwest Edmonton. The garage is where the fire started, burning family heirlooms and automobiles.
Before receiving some terrifying news, Dorian and Tanya St. Jules were out independently running errands and doing some early Christmas shopping while their six children and a relative remained at home.
Dorian reported, “I received a call from my wife saying the home is on fire and the car is on fire.”
The pair rushed home.

“I arrived home to find two ambulances and nine fire trucks. Thank goodness, our neighbour took my kids in, so they were safe,” Tanya added.
The family was informed that a battery started the fire. The couple was concerned for their children as smoke flooded the house despite the fact that the majority of the flames were restricted to the adjoining garage.
We have a baby, and since she is only one, we frequently visit the hospital.

She has breathing issues as a result of the cold weather, and I was concerned about where they would go and what they would do, Dorian added.
The eight-person family has subsequently been forced to relocate and claim they have received a lot of help.
We currently have Red Cross assistance, and we have a lot of support, said Dorian.
The family must now repair a burned-out garage and a house that has smoke damage. Among the damaged objects are a motorcycle and a car.

Dorian stated, “We’re doing this all out of pocket, and it’s making it very difficult.
According to them, the money they had for Christmas will now just just about cover everything they have lost.
Dorian added, “We’ve had a lot of sentimental material destroyed in this fire, unreplaceable. I was more concerned about my family and the kids than I was about our possessions.
The family is being supported via a GoFundMe.
