Tennis legend Anas Jaber from Tunisia caused a stir on social media after criticising the statue’s discrepancy with several of the player’s original characteristics and calling for its modification.
Al-Nahati Abdullah bin Yunus built a memorial in her honour, paying close attention to the finer details and celebrating the achievements of tennis star Anas Jaber. In the memorial, the player may be seen carrying a tennis racket and wearing athletic attire.
Social media conversation around this statue resulted in mockery and scepticism. This was made clear by the activists’ comments, in which some claimed that the memorial was an insulting tribute and a misrepresentation of the second world as it is categorically referred to internationally, while others noted that the sculptures had not accurately sculpted the details of the face and body. In his true form, Anas Jaber criticised this “incomplete and unfinished” work.
In this context, the journalist Burhan Bseis said, “It is clear that there is a conspiracy against the art of sculpting in Tunisia,” while the activist Hisham Al -Hajji commented with sarcophagus, saying, “This statue took into account that Anas Jaber reached the age of old age and also brought some features of the martyr Farhat Hashad He emphasised that the country had instances of “sculptural fabrication.”
The activist Hassan Al-Rashdi agreed that the idea of embodying a statue of the player Anas Jaber is good and a good gesture, but he added that the sculpting process was not agreed upon due to a lack of similarity, calling for the need to adjust it and fix the facial features in a way that promotes the status and march of this player.
