Zelinski discusses with von der Line to expand sanctions on Iran

European Commission President Ursula von der Line discussed with Ukrainian President Foludmir Zellinski on Sunday ways to confront what the Commission described the “negative” role that Iran played with its support for Moscow in its war on Ukraine.
The two sides also spoke on the phone about strengthening sanctions against Russia, which has been conducting military operations in Ukraine since late February, according to a statement from the Commission.

In addition, the statement added that von der Line informed the Ukrainian president that this week would propose a large financial package from the European Union, amounting to 1. 5 billion euros per month, with a total of 18 billion euros.
He emphasised that this package will make a significant contribution to meeting Ukraine’s 2023 financial demands.

Considering that the Ukrainian troops are downing at least ten of these drones every day, the Ukrainian President yesterday accused Tehran of lying about transferring only a small number of drones to Russia.
As Moscow demanded nearly 2000 additional aircraft, Kiev acknowledged that over 400 Iranian planes had already been used against civilians in Ukraine.
The Wall Street Journal, on the other hand, said that Iran taught Russian pilots how to use the marches.

Three Iranian generals and a business accused of selling drones to Russia were sanctioned in retaliation by the European Union, the United Kingdom, and other nations.
Whereas, well-informed sources told the German publication “Der Spiegel” yesterday that Germany and eight other EU members are preparing to increase sanctions against Iran.
Because of this, Kyiv decided in September to drastically scale back its diplomatic ties with Tehran.

For the first time, Iran acknowledged sending drones to Russia on Saturday, although it emphasised that it had done so before Russia’s intervention in Ukraine.

Von der Line and Zelinski talk about extending the sanctions against Iran.
