The League of Arab States is calling an appeal to help Lebanon and Yemen to confront cholera outbreaks

The outbreak of cholera in the Lebanese Republic and the Republic of Yemen deeply concerned the League of Arab States’ General Secretariat, particularly in view of the high rates of illness and fatalities.

In this regard, the General Secretariat makes an appeal to the Arab member states, the international community, and the Arab and international relief organisations to move swiftly and immediately to provide urgent health assistance to support the Lebanese Republic’s and Yemen’s Republic’s health sectors and strengthen their capacity to combat this serious disease.

The Honorable The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States called on member states to supply Lebanon and Yemen with cholera and accelerating vaccines. The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States directed the Social Affairs Sector (Health Aid Department) to take all necessary measures with the Ministries of Health in the two countries. Given that the two countries are experiencing previously unheard-of unusual circumstances that are made worse by cholera, which poses health dangers that not only endanger them but the entire area, immunisation is necessary to combat this emergency health crisis.

An appeal is being made by the League of Arab States to assist Yemen and Lebanon in fighting cholera epidemics.
