After his final game with Barcelona, Spanish defender Gerard Pique announced his retirement from football and sent a heartfelt letter to the club’s supporters.
Pique had announced his retirement from football after the Almeria match in the Spanish League, which was held on Saturday evening, and ended with the Catalan club winning two goals without a response.
“I want to thank you all, and I thank the technical and medical staff in Barcelona, as well as the dressing room workers and everyone who helps us every day so that our lives are easier,” Pique said in his message to the fans of his club after the Almeria match.
“Of course, I began my career as a player, but my career with Barcelona did not come to an end when I left before I pledged to return,” he continued.
“I never had easy times after all the affection I experienced here in Barcelona, and I appreciate the club’s supporters for their encouragement.
“I was born here and I shall die here too. Always forward, Barcelona,” he declared in his closing statement.
