The 41st Sharjah International Book Fair was held during the reign of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. He directed the distribution of 4. 5 million dirhams to provide Sharjah and government libraries with the most recent publications of publishing houses participating in the activities.

The emirate’s goal of creating a knowledge society and the availability of a wide range of books covering various scientific, literary, cultural, and foreign fields serve as examples of Sharjah’s scholarship. These books also add new knowledge, science, and literary works to libraries, enhancing the pioneers of those institutions among general readers, scholars, and students in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Through purchases made by the Arab and foreign publishing houses taking part in the exhibition from the grant money, the grant also directly supports the regional publishing industries at the Arab and worldwide levels.

It is noteworthy that the number of publishing houses participating in the 41st session of the exhibition totaled 2213 between Arab and foreign, from 95 countries, and displays a variety of publications that include kids’ books, encyclopaedias, legal books, science, literature, thought, applied arts, and other knowledge that appeals to readers of all ages.

The Sharjah ruler is instructed to set aside 4.5 million dirhams to purchase Sharjah Showroom issues for libraries.
