The tallest lady in the world was able to fly to San Francisco, California, thanks to modifications made by Turkish Airlines to one of its aircraft.
Gilgi, 25, has “Wayfar syndrome,” a rare genetic disorder that causes abnormal bone development and substantially increases the risk of fractures.
Gilgi has not traveled by air because her length does not allow this even when she was at a young age, according to the British newspaper “Daily Star”.
Gilgi stated in a post on her Instagram page: “a voyage that is unrestricted from start to finish. Although this was my first flight on the aircraft, it won’t be my last.”
Turkish Airlines removed six seats from the aircraft and replaced them with private beds so that it could fly.
In 2014, Gilgi was regarded as the longest adolescent alive after breaking multiple records for the Guinness Book of Records.
Earlier this year, Gilgi entered the record of the longest finger and hand and the largest hand of a woman alive.
It is noteworthy because Gilgi, the 27th case in recorded history, is the first person to receive a Wafer’s syndrome diagnosis in Turkey.
