Morocco: thwarting an international smuggling of narcotic tablets and seizing more than two million narcotic tablets

On Friday, the Moroccan security forces at Tangier’s Mediterranean port were able to foil an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of “Captagon” narcotic pills across international borders.

The General Directorate of Moroccan Security stated in a statement today that smuggled shipments wrapped and concealed inside barrels containing consumer goods were seized after suspicion of loading of one of the cargo containers, which was on a shipping ship flying the flag of one of the European countries.

The Directorate further stated that research and investigation procedures are currently being conducted under the direction of the competent public prosecutor in order to identify all members of the network involved in the attempt to smuggle these significant shipments of narcotic tablets as well as the network’s extensions.
