Global BC Chinatown coverage wins Webster Award for Diversity and Inclusion Reporting

Thursday night, Global BC won a prestigious Jack Webster Foundation award for its reporting on the issues impacting Vancouver’s Historic Chinatown.
In a virtual event, producer and reporter Kristen Robinson received the Webster Award for Diversity and Inclusion Reporting for her series Chinatown Unmasked.
The report took the form of a three-part series for both television and online audiences.

In the first section, Global examined the ways in which the COVID-19 pandemic aggravated issues in the already troubled neighbourhood.
The second section focused on local business owners and citizens, who said that the government was ignoring their complaints about an increase in crime, graffiti, and disorder on the streets.
The neighborhood’s revitalization initiatives and community efforts to restore its former robust status were the focus of part three of Global.
Two additional categories included nominations for the global BC team coverage.

And a series of online and television stories covering B. C. ’s ambulance crisis was nominated in the category of Excellence in Health Reporting..
