Girona achieved a valuable victory over its guest, Athletic Bilbao, 2-1, in the meeting that brought them together on Friday evening, at the “Montelvi” stadium, in the opening of the thirteenth round matches of the Spanish League “La Liga”.
David Lopez and Ivan Martin scored goals for the Girona squad in the 67th and 75th minutes of the game, respectively, while Athletic Bilbao scored the lone goal for Gorca Gorusita in the 78th.
In the Spanish league standings, Girona increased its score to 13 points in position 12, while Bilbao’s balance remained at 21 points in position 6, and Real Madrid remains in first place with 32 points.
In the previous round match at the “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium, Girona had held host Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw.
Four games, including the ten o’clock matchup between Barcelona and its visiting Almeria, will wrap up the thirteenth round of La Liga matches today, on Saturday.
Girona keeps improving, knocking Athletic Bilbao out of the Spanish League.
