Germany .. more than 200 thousand participants in the first week of factory workers’ strikes

During the first week of the German mining and electrical industry strikes, more than 200,000 people were momentarily detoured.
The IG Metal’s Euc Hoffman claimed that the high demand demonstrated that there was widespread support for the demand for an 8% wage hike.
He further stated that the union intended to quicken the strike’s pace.
Hoffman explained that only Friday saw more than 83,000 workers joined the strike.

He emphasised that since last week, more than a thousand companies had staged strikes.
According to a statement, Hoffman stated: “Serious negotiations cannot begin on the basis of the extraordinary amount given. The workers require consistent and fair pay.”
In light of the high inflation and high cost of living in Germany, the union requests a rise in pay of 8% for about 3.9 million workers throughout various regions of the country over a period of 12 months.

Employers have so far offered a one -time grant of 3 thousand euros ($ 2988), in addition to an unlimited increase in wage schedules for 30 months.
The businesses also provided the employees with a one-time, tax-free payment of a financial grant.

More than 200 thousand people participated in the first week of the factory workers’ strikes in Germany.
