Bayern Munich striker Muller comments on the retirement of Pique in one phrase

The final response to Gerard Pique’s abrupt retirement came from Thomas Muller, a prominent opponent of the Barcelona defence and a striker for Bayern Munich.
Pique announced last Thursday that he retired from 35 years, stressing that the Barcelona match against Almeria scheduled later today, Saturday, in the 13th round of the Spanish Football League, will be the last in his career.

Muller, who played against Pique several times in recent years for Spain, responded to Pique’s announcement of his retirement by posting a video of the event on Twitter and writing, “You have always been a powerful and wonderful athlete, you are a hero and legend of our game (football).”

Pique moved to Barcelona when he was 10 years old. He left Catalonia in 2004 to join the Manchester United Academy, where he won the local league championship and the Champions League in 2008 before rejoining the Childhood Club that same year.
Pique and Barcelona won eight Spanish League championships, three Champions Leagues (in 2009, 2011 and 2015), seven King’s Cups, and additional championships.

Between 2009 and 2018, Pique was a member of the Spanish national team, winning the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Cup with them. After the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Pique announced his retirement from international competition.
Pique had two boys with Colombian singer Shakira and was friends with her off the field. We announced their split in June of last year.
