“This is an opportunity to engage closely with our family in the Pacific Ocean, and we will aim to join in hosting the offer with the Pacific Ocean to assist raise the ocean issue for further work on climate change,” he continued.
Due to the former Scott Morrison government’s resistance to demands to set more aggressive objectives for carbon emissions at the Glasgow Summit of the Climate last year, Australia fell short of industrialised nations in terms of its climate action.

Australia and Pacific nations have submitted bids to host the UN Climate Summit in 2026.
