A wet and snowy weekend in store for Saskatchewan

On Saturday, Saskatoon could receive up to 15 centimetres of snow, and locals are preparing for it.
In addition to Regina experiencing some heavy rain, much of the province is predicted to experience wet and snowy weather.
A winter storm watch was issued by Environment Canada, which also noted the possibility of overnight freezing rain and low visibility.
It could only be a slight solace, but things could be worse.

Two years ago, the region saw snowmageddon, with Cypress Hills reporting 40 centimetres of snow, North Battleford 34 centimetres, and freezing rain extending from southwestern Saskatchewan into Manitoba and Ontario.
Most roadways were closed in November 2020, and Highway 1 between the Alberta border and Swift Current was closed during that time.
During that wintry blow, the City of Saskatoon had a straightforward message: “stay at home.”

It had to extend voting in its civic election because of the massive storm that hit. – in David Giles’s archives.

For Saskatchewan, the weekend will be rainy and snowy.
