Washington may agree to sell F-16 aircraft to Ankara within two months

The sale of F-16 jets to Turkey, a NATO member, is proceeding well and was finished in less than two months, according to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Following the collapse of the purchase of F-35 aircraft, Turkey requested from the United States in October 2021 to purchase 40 Lockheed Martin F-16 fighters as well as almost 80 pieces of update equipment for its existing jets.
President Joe Biden’s government is working hard on this problem.

Although it is difficult to provide specific expectations, it appears that the procedure will likely be finished within the next month or two.
“When this occurs, the F-16 problem will be handled, and both the update and new F-16 purchase issues will be resolved,” he continued.
When the US Senate lawmakers convened in New York in September, Erdogan claimed he heard “good” responses from them regarding their likely support for the sale.

Since Ankara acquired defensive missile systems built in Russia, which led to the implementation of US sanctions and Turkey’s exclusion from the F-35 combat aircraft programme, the US Congress has been increasingly indifferent to Turkey.

Within two months, Washington might consent to sell Ankara F-16 planes.
