Tunisia expects a 20% decline in olive oil production due to dehydration

Hamid Dali Hassan, the president and general manager of the Oil Court in Tunisia, announced today, Friday, that the country’s estimated total production of olive oil for the current agricultural season is roughly 200 thousand tonnes, a 20% decrease from the previous year’s agricultural season.
Although Tunisia is one of the world’s top producers of high-quality olive oil, due to weather changes and regular rain retention, production has decreased.

Dali told Tunisia Africa News Agency that the drought and lack of rainfall, particularly in the areas of the coast and the centre, as well as the hot temperatures, are to blame for the drop in the o olive oil injury this year.
The same circumstance, according to Dali, is felt by other nations around the globe, including Spain and Italy.
In September and October, Tunisia experienced temperatures that had been records there for decades.

The official emphasised that the high prices of olive oil, which allowed Tunisia to maintain the same value of its exports last year despite the reduction in production, were a result of the global decline in production to 2. 7 million tonnes this year from 3. 2 million tonnes in the previous year.

Due to dehydration, Tunisia anticipates a 20% decrease in olive oil production.
