The Sonak government cancels the terrace plan to move the British embassy to Jerusalem

News from Al-Madinah: British Prime Minister Rishi Sonak revoked Liz Tras’s intentions to move his nation’s embassy from Tel Aviv to the city that is currently under occupation.
A government spokeswoman revealed this as a surprising development during a press conference yesterday, stating that “the contentious proposal to move the embassy has been cancelled.”
There are currently no plans to relocate our embassy, he said.

The spokesman made no mention of whether the official review Sonak had announced had been shelved in favour of Liz Trace’s intentions to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied Jerusalem, according to “Arabi 21.”
Hossam Zumtat, the Palestinian ambassador to London, praised the British embassy’s decision to move back to occupied Jerusalem.

“The concern about the UK embassy website would not have been raised in the first place,” he told the British website “Middle East Eye.”
This decision is among the most prominent steps made by Sonak in the series of transformations on the Liz Terrace path, as he confirmed as soon as he received his duties that he will address “terrace errors”.

Sonak’s new stance is in contrast to what Boris Johnson declared during their rivalry for the succession, when asked about Britain’s designation of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, that Jerusalem was “unquestionably the historical capital” and that “there is a very compelling argument for Israel.”

For the new embassy, the British government had already selected a location in a Jerusalem district.
The decision is also a setback for the Conservative Party’s pro-Israel pressure group (CFI)..

The idea to relocate the British embassy to Jerusalem is scrapped by the Sonak administration.
