Remembrance Day parade returns to Peterborough; what’s open and what’s closed

The procession is finally returning this year after the Peterborough Remembrance Day service resumed last year after becoming virtual in 2020.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 52 is hosting a service and procession on November 11 with events starting at 9:30 a.m. PACE at PCVS will host the parade, which will thereafter proceed to Confederation Square for a service.
A number of services will be shut down on November, according to the City of Peterborough.

11 and with adjusted hours for some services:
City Hall is closed, including the tax, clerk, and building services offices. Services can be accessed online at www.peterborough.ca.
City daycare facilities: On November 11, Pearson Day Care and Peterborough Day Care both closed.
All after-school programmes are available.
Office closed; emergency shelters open for social services (call 705-926-0096).
Open from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. is the Bensfort Road dump.

Green waste, recycling, and garbage collections will not be made on November 11. Any normally scheduled collections are moved to Monday, Nov. 14 instead of Friday. By 7 a.m., all things must be curbside. m.
Open at the recycling drop-off location (390 Pido Road).
Depot for hazardous and electronic waste: 400 Pido Road; open at 8 a.m. m. to 4 p. m.
Public works: The number to call is 705-745-1386. Every day of the week, including holidays, this line is staffed.
Peterborough Transit: Operating on a regular service schedule on Nov. 11.

On November 11, the Peterborough Public Library (345 Aylmer St. N) will be closed. Online databases and digital materials are available.
On November 11, the provincial offences office (99 Simcoe St.) will be closed. Online payments for fines are possible.
Arenas: The Art Gallery of Peterborough (250 Crescent St.) will be closed on November 11 and will not be accepting reservations.

Public access to the Canadian Canoe Museum (910 Monaghan Road) is suspended while work is done to move it to a new location on Little Lake’s shore.

The Peterborough Sport and Wellness Center will be open as usual on November 11. Visit peterborough.

Closed on Mondays, the Peterborough YMCA is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays (lap pool on the weekend opens at 8 a. m. ).
Daily hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. till sundown for Riverview Park and Zoo. Only available on weekends from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., depending on the weather.
Open Friday, Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Monday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. is the Trent University Athletics Center.
