Quebec man charged with killing his son, daughter to undergo psychiatric evaluation

A psychiatric examination has been mandated for a Quebec father who has been charged in relation to the murders of his two children.
After being charged last month, Kamaljit Arora, 45, appeared in court on Thursday via telephone. Due to his “condition of health,” his arraignment was continuously postponed for more than two weeks. ”
The evaluation was required, according to Quebec’s Crown prosecution office, to determine whether he is competent to stand trial.

17 years after an 11-year-old boy and his 13-year-old sister’s dead were found inside their home by Laval police. Two toddlers were rushed to the hospital after police officers unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate them, where they were later declared dead.
Arora, who was also taken to to hospital with unspecified injuries, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in their deaths. He is also accused of strangling his wife on one count of assault.

The Crown Prosecutor’s Office in Quebec has declared that Arora will return to court on November 10.
Additionally, a separate and independent investigation into the children’s deaths was started by the province’s human and youth rights commission. It will especially investigate if the young victims’ rights were infringed.
