Queensland Police Detective Inspector David Jackman described the incident as “one of the most frightening situations I’ve seen in my odd number of years as a detective.”
On Thursday night, detectives filed one count of murder and one count of torture against the 33-year-old man and the 22-year-old woman.
The pair are both known to the child but police have not commented on the relationship.

According to 9News, those detained include the boy’s father Reinhardt Bosch (33), as well as his partner Noemi Kondacs (22).
On Thursday at 6:45 a.m., ambulance personnel contacted the police to a residence on Mount Samson Road in Yugar for an unconscious toddler.
At the spot where the infant was discovered dead, the father and lady were brought into jail, according to authorities.
“The investigations uncovered injuries to the child that are enough for us to charge with murder,” Det Insp Jackman said.

According to him, the man called the paramedics first.
Police had no prior knowledge of the couple or the address.
