Khan Yunis massacre, 66 years old, on the Zionist massacre in Palestine

Today marks the 66th anniversary of the Khan Yunis Massacre, which took place on November 3, 1956, when Israeli occupation troops invaded the Gaza Strip as part of a trilateral aggression and resulted in the deaths of hundreds of residents and martyrs.
One of the largest massacres carried out by the Israeli army against Palestinian refugees in the southern Gaza Strip, the Khan Yunis massacre, which lasted for several days, resulted in the deaths of over 250 Palestinians.

On November 12, 1956, nine days after the initial massacre, an Israeli army unit carried out a second, savage massacre that claimed the lives of over 275 civilian martyrs in the same camp. On the same day, more than a hundred Palestinian refugees from the Rafah refugee camp also perished.

According to the series of events, the massacre came after the decision of the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser after the nationalization of the Suez Canal in 1956, and in a secret meeting that Britain, France and the Israeli entity agreed to launch an attack from three sides against Egypt and the Gaza Strip, and the attack began with an Israeli strike on Egyptian sites in the Sinai Peninsula that year on October 29.

As a result of the population of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip’s demonstrated resistance, the Israeli army bombarded the city with artillery, killing numerous civilians.

The atrocities started on November 3rd when Israeli military vehicles were pushed through Khan Yunis’ streets and loudspeakers were used to demand that all males between the ages of 16 and 50 leave. The loudspeakers contained warnings against defying the Israeli occupation forces.

Residents awoke to the military occupation trucks’ loudspeakers ordering all men and boys to leave. The occupying troops then led them to the walls and public squares, where they were immediately shot at with machine guns, resulting in hundreds of martyrs dying on the first day.

The massacre persisted against citizens from Khan Yunis, its camp, villages, and the Egyptian army soldiers that were defending the city, where hundreds of dead and wounded were raised, until the twelfth day of the same month.
