Austria calls for strengthening cooperation between the European Union and West Balkans

The Minister of Integration and Family in Austria, Susanna Rap, stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between the European Union and the West Balkan countries in immigration files and facilitate the joining of Western Balkan countries to membership of the Union.
Rap claimed in a statement released today, Thursday, that she attended the West Balkan Summit today on Counselor Karl Niehamr’s behalf as part of the Berlin operation.

She emphasised that today three agreements were made to strengthen collaboration between Europe and the six countries in the western Balkans, noting that close cooperation among nations also aids in removing obstacles and resolving old problems.

The minister continued, saying that “it is in our interest to finally include the Balkan countries as members of our family in the European Union,” adding that “at the moment we should not permit other powers to exercise their influence in our immediate environment” and highlighting the necessity of promoting security and stability in the area.

Austria urges the West Balkans and the European Union to work together more closely.
