A journalist who spoke with the father of Muhsa Amini, whose passing in September ignited protests that grew into a significant uprising against the regime, was detained by Iranian security agents on Friday, according to a non-governmental organisation.
According to the human rights group Henkao, which is located in Norway, a journalist who lives in Tehran and was detained on Sunday in Saqz, in the Iranian province of Kurdistan, was also Muhsa Amini.
The NGO noted that Mourovian had called her family before being taken into custody and being sent to Evin Prison in the Iranian capital.
On October 19, the “Mustaghel” website on the Internet posted an interview with Amjad, the father of Muhsa Amini, conducted by the journalist for the “Rouledad 24” website.
She made the following statement after a link to her article was published: “I have no intention of committing myself, and I don’t have a basic disease,” which is a clear indication of the dangers she will be subjected to by publishing the interview.
The “independent” website has since removed the interview, but a copy shows that the father disputes the Iranian authorities’ claims that his daughter had health issues.
“The father of Muhsa Amini: They are lying!” was the title of the interview.
After the young woman Muhsa Amini died on September 16, Iran has been experiencing protests for about two months. This is because Iran was accused of violating the severe clothing codes that Tehran imposes on women after Muhsa Amini’s death.
The intensity and scope of these protests, which the authorities are describing as riots, are unparalleled in Iran since the 1979 revolution.
The journalists who helped with the case’s publishing have been held in Evin Prison since the protests began.
Nilofar Hamdi, a journalist for the daily “Sharq,” was on her way to the hospital where she was an amalgasian immigrant in a coma when she passed away. Her family claims that she was detained on September 20.
As one of the first protests was taking place, his goddess Muhammad (35), a reporter for the daily “Ham Mihan,” travelled to Saqz to cover the funeral of Amini. On September 29, Muhammad was taken into custody.
The Journalists Committee, located in New York, reports that 54 journalists were detained as part of the effort to put an end to the protests. Only roughly 10 of them have been issued since then.
