Sun Hyung Min, a South Korean striker for the English team Tottenham Hotspur, underwent face surgery a few days prior to the start of the 2022 World Cup, the team disclosed today, Wednesday.
Along with Portugal, Ghana, and Uruguay, the South Korean team is in the eighth World Cup group.
Tottenham wrote in a formal statement on their website, “We can confirm that Hyung Min Sun will have surgery to implant a fracture around his left eye.”
The statement added: “Son will start the rehabilitation stage with our medical staff after the operation, and we will update our fans with more information about his health in the coming hours. ”
Tuesday’s final Champions League group stage match between Tottenham and Marseille featured an injury to the Korean Sun during the first half.
Sun, a Korean player for Tottenham, has consented to have surgery.
