Pakistan: We need an urgent need to fill global pledges to flow the financing during “Cup 27”

The Minister of Climate Change in Pakistan, Sherry Rahman, confirmed today, Wednesday, that Pakistan is in urgent need to mobilize global pledges to flow financing during the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Climate Change Convention “COP 27” in Egypt.
“A three-minute movie will be presented in cup 27 to highlight the scope and severity of the state’s unparalleled climatic disasters, as well as the hazards to the environment, human lives, and property.”

She emphasised that over the past 20 years, the nation has experienced 162 severe events, as well as severe heat waves that have caused temperatures in Jacobabad and other cities to rise to 53. 7 degrees Celsius. Over the past three years, the nation has also hosted the top three hottest cities in the world.

She emphasised that the rise in crops by 40 to 60 percent by 2050, along with the rapid rise in sea level that will endanger several Pakistani places in the future, will highlight the challenge of food insecurity.

However, the World Bank projected the total losses at roughly $30 billion, which will directly affect Pakistan’s gross domestic product. “During the last seasonal floods, there were 1739 deaths, 12,000 and 867 injuries, and more than 2 million dwellings destroyed,” she said.

The Pakistani minister went on to say that adapting to long-term measures to combat climate change is one of her nation’s top priorities, noting that she is seeking to secure $100 billion annually as support for current damage in addition to offering suggestions to develop a transparent mechanism that clearly determines climate financing needs with simple access to financing for developed countries most affected by climate change.

She mentioned that Pakistan is also looking for financing options for losses and damage with quick funding, defining the global aim of adaptation, and urging the presence of a global index of United Nations climate risk for all nations.

Pakistan: We urgently need to fulfil international promises in order to flow the funding during “Cup 27.”
