North Korea launches a new ballistic missile overlooking Japanese territory

Following the launch of at least 23 nuclear missiles, including one that for the first time fell off the coast of South Korea, North Korea launched a new ballistic missile on Thursday that, according to alerts in Japan, sailed over Japanese territory.
The Japanese government’s radio alarm system cautioned the citizens of central Japan against retreating to their houses.

The launch of a missile over Pyongyang’s eastern shore was also reported by the South Korean army.
The missile reportedly reached a different stage, according to the Yonhap News Agency, suggesting that it could be a long-range weapon.
On Wednesday, North Korea fired at least 23 missiles into the ocean, including one that landed less than 60 kilometres off the coast of South Korea, which South Korean President Yun Suk Yol called “an encroachment on the lands” and which Washington denounced as “reckless.”

The majority of the missiles shot in the north in one day, and it was the first time a ballistic missile had fallen close the southern waters since the peninsula was divided in 1945. Rare air attack warnings have been provided by South Korea, and in response, missiles have been fired.
