The “Mesopotamia” club will be led by Spanish coach Jesus Casas going forward, according to a statement from the Iraqi Football Association.
“We have reached an agreement with Spanish coach Jesus Casas to take over the task of training the team for the coming period, and he will arrive in the capital Baghdad in the coming days to officially sign,” Mohamed Farhan, the secretary of the local federation for the game, said in an interview with the media on Wednesday.

Five assistants—a goalie coach, a fitness coach, a technical analyst, and two assistants—who were chosen by Kasas will make up the new coaching staff for the national team, according to Farhan.
The Secretary of the Iraqi Federation omitted any references to the agreement’s financial and legal specifics as well as the date of Kasas, its official mission with the Iraqi team, which is anticipating four friendlies this November.

Between 2018 and 2022, Casas, 49, served as Luis Enrique’s assistant coach for the Spanish national team and as the manager of the Kadesh Club’s minor squads.
Four friendly matches are anticipated for the Iraqi team, two of which will be against Mexico and Ecuador on November 9th and 12th in the Spanish capital.
