The “Mesopotamia” team will be coached by the Spanish coach Jesus Casas going forward, according to the Iraqi Football Association.
The Secretary of the local federation of the game, Mohamed Farhan, said in an interview with Al -Alam on Wednesday: We reached an agreement with the Spanish coach Jesus Casas for assuming the task of training the team for the coming period, and he will arrive in the capital Baghdad in the coming days to officially sign.

Five assistants, including a goalie coach, a fitness coach, a technical analyst, and two assistants, will make up the new technical staff for the national squad, according to Farhan.
Between 2018 and 2022, Casas (49 years old) served as Luis Enrique’s assistant coach for the Spanish national team and as the Kadesh Club’s administrative manager for the young teams.

The Iraqi team is anticipated to play four friendly matches, two of which are against Mexico and Ecuador on November 9 and 12 in Girona, Spain, before playing their Costa Rican counterparts in Basra on November 17 and Venezuelans on November 21 in Basra or the capital, Baghdad.

The Iraqi national team is being assistant-coached by Luis Enrique.
