Because of Iran’s uprising .. Washington plans to remove Tehran from the United Nations Women’s Committee

Due to the government’s denial of women’s rights and the ruthless suppression of the “Iran’s uprising,” the United States has said that it will attempt to have Iran removed from the committee’s 45 member list.
The committee, which meets annually in March and works to advance gender equality and empower women, has just begun Iran’s four-year mandate.

In a statement, Harris stated that “the United States believes that no government that routinely infringes against the rights of women and girls should play a role in any United Nations international agency charged with preserving these same rights.”
Since the death of the Kurdish teenager Muhsa Amini during the police seizure last month, Iran has seen protests.

The unrest culminated in “Iran’s uprising,” widespread mass protests by Iranians from all social levels that represented one of the most audacious challenges to Islamic authority since the 1979 revolution.
Iran attributed the unrest on its foreign adversaries and their agents.
Iran has demonstrated that it is ineligible to serve on this committee by denying women’s rights and brutally repressing its citizens, according to Harris.

The United States and Albania held an unofficial meeting of the UN Security Council on Wednesday, to highlight the Iranian uprising, which was ignited by the death of Misha, Amini.
The purpose of the discussion was to look for measures to strengthen impartial and reliable investigations into Iranian human rights breaches.

Washington intends to expel Tehran from the United Nations Women’s Committee as a result of the revolt in Iran.
