After receiving over a hundred complaints from residents about the deputies’ inability to stay awake while reading books during the proceedings of the sessions, the local council in a Japanese city resorted to broadcasting its meetings on the radio.

According to the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation, the Ishikawa City Council, which is located in the province of “Shaiba,” started broadcasting its opening session on YouTube today, Wednesday, and showing the faces of the sitting deputies sitting and those who ask questions instead of concentrating on the platform speakers only.

A number of deputies expressed their support for this new decision, and Speaker of the Council Matsunaga Osami stated that this method will assist the deputies regain the trust of the public.

By live-streaming the meetings, a Japanese city is combating “deputies slumber.”
