Tottenham made the announcement on Hyung Min Sun’s surgery this evening, on Wednesday, following his injury against Marseille in the Champions League.
Sun suffered an injury during the first half of Tuesday’s Champions League group stage encounter against Marseille, which Marseille won 2-1.
Tottenham said in a formal statement, “We can confirm that Hyung Min Sun will have surgery to implant a fracture around his left eye.”
“Sun will start rehabilitation with our medical staff after surgery, and we will update the fans with more current information about his status,” he continued.
The Tottenham star’s chances of playing for the South Korean national team in the World Cup, which begins on November 20, have reportedly been seriously questioned because of the upcoming operation, according to the British daily “The Guardian.”
Alongside Uruguay, Ghana, and Portugal, the South Korean national team will compete in the World Cup’s eighth group.
Son will have surgery, according to Tottenham, 18 days before the World Cup.
