Watch: Powerful haka for Indigenous boy allegedly beaten to death

Overnight, Perth witnessed poignant scenes as members of the Mori community gave a moving haka.
A group of about 20 persons paying respects may be seen on video.
The stirring haka was performed at a candlelight memorial for 15-year-old Cassius Turvey, who was killed while returning home from school in Perth.
Around 4:30 p.m. on October 13, a group of individuals allegedly got out of a car and accused Cassius of breaking windows as he was going down Lloyd Street.

He allegedly suffered head trauma from being struck with a metal pole.
After being first released from the hospital, Cassius returned after experiencing convulsions.
On October 23, after being put into an induced coma, he passed away.
Jack Brearley, 21, has been charged by police with murder, and his next court appearance is scheduled for November 9.
Friends of Cassius said that as he pursued them, he yelled racist epithets.

The incident has shocked the Indigenous community in Australia, and over the following 24 hours, numerous remembrance activities and vigils will be organised.
There will be protests all around Australia, New Zealand, and the US, Cassius’ mother Mechelle announced at Friday night’s vigil at Midlands Oval in Perth.
We all know that racism exists, but please don’t use the tragic death of my son as a springboard for your protests, she said.
