According to a report by the Gizamo China, the Japanese business Sony has disclosed sales of the well-known PlayStation 5 video game during the most recent quarter as well as the overall sales since the device’s release in 2020.
According to Sony, the PlayStation 5 has sold more than 25 million devices to this point. The corporation published official notes stating that it sold roughly 3. 3 million units of the device only during the past quarter.
In total, the business anticipated selling 18 million devices by the end of the fiscal year for 2022. However, Sony has only sold 5. 7 million units through the first half of the fiscal year, which indicates that it has fallen short of its initial sales projections.
On the other hand, although Sony did not see any increase in the horizon regarding the sales of these units during the past year, the revenues from sales witnessed a remarkable rise by 12%.
This is partially a result of this year’s price increase. But because the business just bought the renowned Games Development Company, which created the first three instalments of the Halo trilogy, profits dropped by 49%.
Sales of PlayStation 5 games were only 11.5% higher in 2022 than they were in 2017, according to Sony, who also said in May that they will increase PlayStation 5 production to keep up with demand despite supply chain issues and challenges.
Since the release of the PlayStation 5, Sony has sold 25 million units.
