Iraq Foreign Minister: We reject Iran and Turkey’s interventions in our country

With the entry of the new Iraqi government to its second week of work officially, after naming the new ministers, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed that his country is providing external interference in its affairs.
He rejected Turkish and Iranian intrusions in his country in an interview with Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath today, Tuesday, emphasising that they are undesirable.

He did, however, make it plain that Baghdad wants to resolve the issues with Iran and Turkey through discussion.
The administration wishes to keep improving Iraq’s relations with its neighbours, he continued, emphasising that the country’s message is one of peace and unity in the face of difficulties. He also added: “We deny that Iraq be an arena for regional and worldwide disputes.

He said that the Iraqi issue will be a major topic at the Arab summit taking place today in Algeria. He emphasised that the decisions made at this meeting will not interfere with Iraq.
He emphasised that Baghdad’s connection with Saudi Arabia is crucial and that the administration is working to maintain it. He also emphasised that the Kingdom is a significant Gulf nation.

Additionally, he emphasised that while his nation is devoted to the strategic alliance with the United States of America, it disagrees with Washington on its foreign policy toward its neighbours.
He clarified that some forces were aiming for internal armed turmoil in Iraq.
He further emphasised that Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani will take extra precautions to safeguard governmental and diplomatic institutions.

Regarding the relationship with Kurdistan, he emphasised that a complete agreement on a number of issues, including the connection between Erbil and Baghdad, was reached prior to the establishment of the government. We decided to address every issue facing the Kurdistan area, including the oil and security issues.
