Many were astonished when Amina of the Kunstsammlung Museum in Düsseldorf, Germany, disclosed that one of the Dutch abstract painter Beit Mondrian’s works had been placed incorrectly 77 years earlier, but it has confirmed the veracity of her viewpoint.
The yearly retrospective of Dutch abstract painter Beit Mondrian was recently held in the Kunstsammlung Museum in Düsseldorf, Germany, from October 29, 2022, to February 12, 2023.
The “New York City” picture was reportedly displayed to the public completely differently than how it may have been intended to be displayed, as it was uncovered that the painting was displayed upside down from 77 General, the German Museum’s Susan Mair-Boser told the Guardian.
According to Mayer, “I saw that the painting was in the opposite way on the pregnant woman who drew my attention in a picture from 1944, and I sought for the topic.”
Mayer explained that the painting drawn by Mondrian in 1941, which consists of several lines in blue, red and yellow, crossed with existing angles that were shown shortly after wrongly in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, then transferred to the Dusseldorf Museum in 1980 and offered in the same way.
Because “the painting does not have a symbol 1944,” Mayer returns the mistake.
