After criticising the statue’s inconsistency with many of the original attributes of the player and demanding for its alteration, the Tunisian tennis legend Anas Jaber ignited uproar on social media.

Al-Nahati Abdullah bin Yunus created a memorial for the tennis player Anas Jaber in her honour, with attention to the finer details and in celebration of her exploits in the sport. The player appears in the memorial dressed in athletic gear and holding a tennis racket.

This statue sparked widespread interaction on social media, which reached the point of ridicule and cynicism, this appeared through the activists ’comments, as some considered that this memorial is a humiliating honor and distortion of a picture of the second world classified globally, while others saw that the sculptures failed to sculpt the details of the face and body Anas Jaber in his authentic form, criticising this “incomplete and unfinished” work.

The activist Hisham Al-Hajji said, “This statue took into account that Anas Jaber reached the age of old age and also brought some aspects of the martyr Farhat Hashad,” to the journalist Burhan Bseis’ statement that “It is apparent that there is a plot against the art of sculpting in Tunisia.” He emphasised that there are examples of “sculptural forgery” in the nation.

The activist Hassan Al-Rashdi agreed that the idea of embodying a statue of the player Anas Jaber is good and a good gesture, but he added that the sculpting process was not agreed upon due to a lack of similarity, calling for the need to adjust it and fix the facial features in a way that promotes the status and march of this player.
