News from Al-Madinah: On Sunday night, raucous night protests were witnessed in more than eleven Iranian cities. These night protests, which were the scene of Sinandaj, Saqz and Mahabad, among other cities that erupted despite the warnings of the Revolutionary Guards, and the shooting by the riot police and the Basij elements.

Women’s leaders from 14 countries, including Hillary Clinton, Opera, and Michelle Obama, demanded that Iran be expelled from the United Nations Committee on Women due to repression and violence against protesters at the same time that the voice of the world’s women joined the protest in solidarity with the Iranians.

Students were subjected to tear gas, beatings, and shootings by riot police and Basij members as the protests that started weeks ago in Iran began their seventh week.
Taking over universities
According to the Iranian Human Rights Organization, elements of Iranian security and the Basij stormed the campus of several universities in the country to suppress the protesters and arrested a number of them.

The clashes that broke out at numerous campuses raised concerns that the government would step up its repressive campaign seven weeks after Muhsa Amini’s passing.
On Sunday night, protests against the Iranian government were visible in the Iranian city of Mahabad.

With the protests continuing despite the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Commander’s threats, Parliament Speaker Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf tried to strike a different tone. He hinted that social movements could change the country’s political system if they were kept apart from those who advocated violence, classifying the protesters in an effort to split their ranks.

“The final day of the demonstrations”
The Commander of the Revolutionary Guards had warned the Iranian youth that Saturday will be the last day of the protests that broke out for the first time after the killing of Amini on September 16 during her detention in the country’s etiquette custody.

The clashes also escalated at the University of Azad in Tehran, where the semi -official Iranian Tasnim News Agency reported that some groups attacked a protest that was organized during a memorial ceremony for the victims of a fatal attack on a major sacred Shiite site in southern Iran. Tasnim made the generalised claim that several students were hurt during the altercations.

Social media videos revealed that the police personnel used tear gas to disperse students who were protesting Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
