The official death toll from the stampede that took place during the Halloween celebrations in the nation’s capital Seoul on Saturday night has risen to 154, according to a statement made by South Korean Prime Minister Han Duk Soo today, Monday.
Han promised to investigate the accident in great detail.
He declared during opening remarks for a television meeting that the administration will implement the necessary reforms to stop a similar accident from happening again.
Dozens of young men died when a crowd flowed into narrow streets in the Atwan area of Seoul during the Halloween celebrations on Saturday evening.
The government declared a day of national mourning.
